One person dies every 33 seconds in the United States due to cardiovascular disease.  Heart disease is the leading cause of death for men, women, and most racial & ethnic groups in the US.  One in every five deaths in the United States in 2021 was from heart disease.  In the United States,, someone has a heart attack every 40 seconds.

About 1 in 5 heart attacks are silent – the damage is done, but the person is not aware of it.  While some forms of heart disease are preventable, others may be a result of genetics.  Consult your physician regarding your heart health, family health history, and ways that you may be able to prevent heart disease.  Know the facts about heart health and take preventative action now, no matter what your age.

Risk Factors for Heart Disease

High blood pressure, high blood cholesterol, and smoking are risk factors for heart disease.  Lifestyle choices and certain diseases such as diabetes, overweight & obesity, unhealthy diet, physical inactivity, and excessive alcohol use are key contributors to heart disease.  According to a recent John Hopkins study that links “destructive anger justification” with an increased risk of cardiovascular disease, and an angry heart is an unhealthy heart.  Hot tempers inflame heart disease and reacting quickly and angrily to stressful situations can pose a risk to the heart.

The top unhealthy heart habits are:

  1. Smoking
  2. Alcohol Use
  3. Poor Diet
  4. Stress
  5. Little Physical Activity
  6. Avoiding Physicals and Checkups
  7. High Salt Intake
  8. Inadequate Sleep

How a Heart Attack Begins

A heart attack occurs when an artery that sends blood and oxygen to the heart is blocked.  Fatty, cholesterol-containing deposits build up over time forming plaques in the heart’s arteries.  If a plaque ruptures, a blood clot can form.  The clot can block arteries, causing a heart attack.

Symptoms of a heart attack or myocardial infarction can vary from person to person.

Following are the most common symptoms:

  1. Chest pain, shortness of breath, or fatigue a few days or weeks before the attack.
  2. A person with angina (temporary chest pain) may begin to find that it takes less and less physical activity to trigger the pain.  Bring changes in the pattern of angina to the attention of your physician.
  3. During a heart attack, gas-like pain or pressure in the stomach area may be mistaken for indigestion.  The pain is similar to angina, and usually more severe, longer lasting and does not improve with rest or a nitroglycerin pill.
  4. One out of three people who have heart attacks do not feel any chest pain.
  5. Nausea & vomiting are sometimes mistaken for food poisoning or the stomach flu.
  6. Lightheadedness or dizziness.
  7. Shortness of breath, especially in older people.
  8. Feelings of restlessness, sweatiness, anxiety or a sense of impending doom.
  9. Bluishness of the lips, hands or feet
  10. Heavy pounding of the heart or abnormal heart rhythms
  11. Loss of consciousness (this can be the first symptom of a heart attack)
  12. Disorientation resembling a stroke may occur in older people.

Helping a Victim of a Heart Attack

Half of the heart attack deaths occur in the first 3 or 4 hours after the onset of symptoms, so it is important to know and recognize the warning signs.

  1. If someone in your presence is having a heart attack, call 911 immediately!  Every minute you delay can result in more damage to the heart muscle.
  2. After the ambulance has been called, chew & swallow an aspirin, unless you are allergic or told by a Dr. to never take it.
  3. Take nitroglycerin, if prescribed.  Never take anyone else’s nitroglycerin, only take what your Dr. prescribed for you.

Average Age for Most Heart Attacks

The American Heart Association states the average age of a person at the time of their first heart attack in the United States is 65.5 years for males and 72 years for females.  But keep in mind that heart attacks can happen to anyone.

Cardiac Arrest versus Heart Attack

A heart attack is essentially a plumbing problem in the heart.  Sudden cardiac arrest is compared to an electrical problem in the heart.  People who have heart attacks are awake, their hearts are beating, and they are able to communicate.  When people experience sudden cardiac arrest, they are not awake, their hearts are not beating, and they are unable to communicate.  Heart attacks can lead to sudden cardiac arrest (SCA).

Helping a Victim of Sudden Cardiac Arrest

Sudden Cardiac Arrest is a life-threatening emergency that occurs when the heart unexpectedly stops beating.  It strikes seemingly healthy people of all ages, even children & teens.  When SCA happens, the person collapses, becomes unresponsive, and is not breathing normally.  The person may appear to be gasping, snoring or having a seizure.  SCA leads to death within minutes if the person does not receive immediate help.

  1. Call 911 immediately!
  2. Begin cardiopulmonary resuscitation or CPR.  CPR can double or triple a cardiac arrest victim’s chances of survival.  Learn the steps for CPR and watch it in action.  Find a CPR course.
  3. Utilize an automated external defibrillator (AED) if one is available.  AED’s – increasingly available in public places and homes – are designed for use by laypersons.  They provide visual and voice prompts.  They will only shock the heart if needed to restore a healthy heartbeat.

The chances of survival for a victim of Sudden Cardiac Arrest drop by 7 to 10 percent with every minute that passes without CPR and defibrillation.  Very few attempts succeed after 10 minutes.  They key is to act fast.

ENERGETICALLY CLEAR YOUR HEART WALL®

If you have experienced heartache, grief, or loss, it is quite possible that you have a Heart- Wall®.  The heart is the most electromagnetic organ in your body.  Your heart generates 60 – 1,000 times more power and electromagnetic energy than your brain, easily making it the most powerful organ you have.  In 1985, scientists found that the heart’s magnetic field extends up to 12 feet in diameter around the body.

Scientists confirm that:

  • every beat of the heart sends messages to all the cells of the body
  • the brain in your head obeys the messages sent by the heart
  • the heart can “think” for itself
  • the heart has the ability to “remember” things

According to Dr. Bradley Nelson, creator of the Emotion Code, the Body Code, and the Belief Code – “Scientific study indicates that there is a communication taking place between all of us, all the time.  He believes that the human heart is a sender & receiver of information.  The heart sends the energy we call ‘love’ and can receive that energy in return.  A Heart-Wall® hampers ones ability to give and receive love, and feel other positive emotions.  A Heart-Wall® can also contribute to feelings of isolation, sadness, and other emotional problems.  It is estimated that 93% of people have a Heart-Wall®.”
